3.The uptake of 0.5 mM ferulic acid (pH 5.5) over 5 h based on 14C solution depletion for seedlings given one exposure or three exposures at 48-h intervals were 23.66 mg/g root dry weight and 11.66 mg/g root dry weight , respectively, a 51% reduction .

4.The depletion rates of ferulic acid were not modified in the presence of p-hydroxybenzoic acid but the depletion rates of p-hydroxybenzoic acid were reduced by approximately 30% in the presence of ferulic acid when compared to uptake from solutions containing only p-hydroxybenzoic acid.
